A hurricane swept through Gilbert's Edu-Prize Charter School earlier this month just after a tornado touched down, but students weren't afraid. Instead they sat safely in a Discovery Dome in the school's science lab watching up close as the homes and towns were devastated by the powerful forces of nature.
Using a Learning Grant by SRP, the charter school students are discovering more about the weather, exploring the stars and planets, and watching nature up close.
The grant allowed school officials to purchase software for their portable, inflatable dome, which contains a digital theater equipped with a single-projector display. About 30 students can fit inside the dome.
