There will be 589 graduates receiving diplomas from Gilbert High School this year.

Gilbert High School's graduation ceremony will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at Tiger Stadium.



Valedictorians

Max Kaito

Age: 17

GPA: 4.7

Short bio: Born in Torrance, Ca. Max attended GHS for 3 years. He has one sister. She is a student at UCLA. Max also participated in cross country and tennis at GHS.

What is this student’s career goal? Major in Physics

Brodi Elwood

Age: 18

GPA: 4.7

Short bio: Born in Mesa. Attended GHS all 4 years. Brodi has one older brother and one older sister. Also participated in FFA, 4Hand raises goats.

Total amount of scholarship money this student was offered: $170,000

Which University or College is this student planning to attend? MIT

What is this student’s career goal? Major in Physics

Amanda Ward

Age: 18

GPA: 4.7

Short Bio: Born in Antioch, CA. Attended kindergarten through 12th grade in Gilbert Public Schools. Has one older brother and one older sister. Also participated in Orchestra, and Math Club at GHS.

Total amount of scholarship money this student was offered: $140,000

Which University or College is this student planning to attend? BYU-Provo

What is this student’s career goal? Major in Public Health/Pre Med.

The Class of 2013 has achieved the following:

  • Band: 3rd at State Championships, 12 students made the All-Region Honor Band, and 3 more students made All-State Band. The Wind Orchestra received a Superior w/ Distinction ratings at the Area Concert Festival and a Superior rating at the State Concert Festival Winter Guard won the AIA State Championships at all three levels.
  • Drum Line won the 2013 State Championship.
  • Choir: 7 Participants in the All-State Jazz Choir, 14 Participants in the Regional Honor Choir, 4 Participants in the All-State Choir.
  • Concert Choir received Maestro Awards at the Heritage Music Festival, AVE earned a Superior Rating at the
  • NAU Jazz & Madrigal Festival. Concert Choir and Advanced Women’s Ensemble received Superior w/ Distinction
  • Awards at the AMEA State Choral Festival
  • Orchestra: 6 Participants in Regional Orchestra, 2 Participants in All-State Orchestra, They received an Excellent Rating at the Regional Festival
  • Theatre earned a Superior rating at the Arizona State 1 Act competition with 2 performers receiving All-State honors
  • Boys Volleyball is in the state finals
