Tempe High School will give diplomas to 323 students this week. Tempe High's valedictorian is Hannah Wood.
Hannah Wood has attended Tempe High since her freshman year, and has been involved in a number of campus clubs. She serves this year as president of the International Club, a club for students interested in foreign languages and the cultures of other world countries. Hannah has also been a member of the National Honor Society, Academic Seminar Club, Pilates Club, and Art Club. Art is one of Hannah’s favorite classes, and for one of her class projects, she painted a wall of the school’s art gallery with chalkboard paint. She also painted the phrase, “Before I die, I want to…” in multiple locations so that gallery visitors could complete the sentences. Hannah completed the sentence herself by writing, “exceed my potential.” Hannah is indeed an exceptional and talented student who is an International Baccalaureate Diploma candidate, taking all six of her high school courses in IB. Hannah said that one of her favorite and most fascinating high school courses was Theory of Knowledge, because it taught her to “think outside the box.” After high school, Hannah plans to attend Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, majoring in journalism.
