Want to be teacher? Arizona State University’s TEAMS (Teacher Education for Arizona Math & Science) is offering a fast track program at the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College on the Polytechnic campus in Mesa. Students with a bachelor’s degree can start the program in June to earn an Arizona teaching certificate in one year.

After a second summer of coursework, students are awarded a master’s degree in education.

Applications are now being accepted. Information: Call Megan Gamarra at (480) 727-1084 or email megan.gamarra@asu.edu.

Yeah see Brewers budget cuts for education. Good luck with that career unless you're independently wealthy.

jobs aren't there. i know. i have my license. can't find a job close enough to be worth the gas.
additional problem is due to the teacher's pay scales, if you have a masters that makes it HARDER (depending on your specialty) to get a job because they have to PAY YOU AT A HIGHER PAY SCALE THAN A TEACHER WITH A BS. this has NOTHING to do with Brewer. teacher pay is pretty good considering you get 3 months off and if you get into a good district, it can be really nice.

Apparently anyone can teach...except a teacher.
With more than 20 years of experience and two master's degrees I was told by AZ DOE that the program from which I recently graduated (fully accredited btw) won't be accepted for my certification. Why? I chose to go to a real university out of state instead of the AZ fast track "alternative certification" method.
And by the way, those summers off...teachers must earn 160 hours of continuing education to remain certified. We do this on our own dime. You might consider that it is to your benefit teachers attend to their jobs during the 180 day school year and take most of these classes in the summer.
