Chandler police arrested a Subway restaurant employee Friday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a co-worker by pushing her into the restaurant’s cooler and groping her. She said he also exposed himself.
Joel Flores-Reyes, 30, was arrested after a woman he worked with called police on Thursday and reported he had assaulted her.
The victim told police that Reyes first kissed her twice on the neck without her permission during their shift at a Chandler Boulevard Subway.
She said that later in the night on Thursday, Reyes pushed her against a wall in the walk-in cooler and groped her and exposed himself.
The woman said she was afraid to try and get away because there were knives in the cooler, and she was afraid Reyes might hurt her, police reported.
Reyes eventually stopped touching the woman, and she ran out of the store to call police. Later, police had her call Reyes and confront him about the incident. Reyes reportedly apologized for his actions during the phone call, telling the victim that he couldn’t control his emotions around her, according to a police report. Reyes said he wanted the victim to be “his princess,” police said.
Police arrested Reyes the next day at the Chandler Subway restaurant.
He initially told police he did not touch her at all, but later admitted to groping her in the cooler, police said. He reportedly denied having exposed himself, telling police he put her hand on his abs to show her that he “works out,” according to a report.
Reyes could face charges of sexual abuse and indecent exposure.
