A person who was attacked by bees while hiking Camelback Mountain Monday afternoon has died, according to Phoenix fire officials.

Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Scott McDonald said fire crews responded to a call of a mountain rescue around 3:45 p.m.

McDonald said three men were being attacked by bees just off of Echo Canyon trail.

The men were on a trail near an area called Ice Box Canyon. McDonald said one of the men fell approximately 150 feet and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two other men hunkered down in a small crevasse area and tried to protect themselves. They were both stung over 300 times.

Air15 video showed rescue crews being lowered onto the mountain to rescue the two other hikers hiding in the crevices of the mountain.

Both men were transported to the hospital in serious condition. McDonald said they are both expected to make full recoveries.

A Phoenix Fire Department rescue crew member also suffered multiple bee stings, but is expected to be okay.

The names and ages of the hikers weren't immediately available.
