Fire officials say a 4-year-old girl who was taken to a Valley hospital in serious condition after she was pulled from a pool Friday afternoon is expected to be okay.
According to the Apache Junction Fire Department, crews responded to a community pool near Meridian Road and Lost Dutchman Boulevard around 4 p.m. where they found CPR being administered by the girl's mother.
Deputy Fire Chief Dave Montgomery said it was unknown how long the child was submerged.
Officials said the child was with her mother and two siblings when the accident occurred.
The child began breathing on her own prior to fire crews arriving on the scene.
She was taken to Cardon Children’s Medical Center in serious condition.
Montgomery said around 6 p.m. the girl was upgraded to good condition and is awake and alert without any apparent deficits.
