The Maricopa County Sheriff's vehicular crimes unit has received a $30,000 grant award from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety to investigate fatal, life threatening and/or serious injury traffic collisions.

The grant is specifically intended to enhance the investigation of collisions involving impaired and/or speeding drivers.

The money will be used to cover overtime costs and help target such crimes as DUI, aggressive driving, vehicular homicide, aggravated assault, aggravated DUI and endangerment.
