Mesa police arrested a man Sunday after a struggle in which officers used a stun gun two times in order to take the man into custody. Police were called shortly after midnight Sunday with a report Derrick Seamster, 38, was causing a disturbance outside a residence in the 1800 block of East Jamaica Avenue.

Officers told Seamster he was under arrest, and he briefly complied before he yelled and struck his fists against a police car. Police said Seamster pulled away from officers as they attempted to handcuff him, and an officer then used a Taser at close range. The stun had little effect. Officers pushed Seamster to the ground, where he resisted until he was stunned again.

Seamster was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
