A man who led police on a high-speed chase through west Mesa and south Scottsdale in a stolen vehicle on Saturday is facing auto theft-related charges after officers were able to stop his vehicle with a PIT maneuver to end the chase.

Antolin Montero, 19, led police throughout parts of west Mesa after police observed him in the vehicle near 6th and Alma School Road. When an officer tried to execute a traffic stop on Montero, he sped up and led police along a portion of northbound Loop 101 without headlights before exiting onto McKellips Road.

After officers made the PIT maneuver, Montero was apprehended and also arrested on suspicion of driving without a valid driver’s license and unlawful flight from law enforcement.
