Sounds like good news for Mesa, although as a veteran myself, I don't think I like the police considering themselves to be "paramilitary in nature." That seems to be part of a problem in police/community relations. (Unless you're sheriff joke with his "press-conference-ready armored vehicle.")
At any rate, glad to hear that Mesa is emerging from some of the budget woes. The few reports I've had to make to Mesa PD have always been met by polite and professional officers. They didn't seem so very paramilitary to me at all. [smile]
