A Mesa man accused of killing his aunt after an argument over cigarettes has been sentenced to 22 years in prison.
Maricopa County prosecutors say William Null also was sentenced Friday to a concurrent 3½-year sentence for burglary and must serve four years of supervised probation after his prison term.
The 41-year-old Null pleaded guilty in May to second-degree murder and burglary.
The body of 61-year-old Cynthia Pesek was found inside her home last Nov. 15. She was a Mesa elementary school teacher for about 30 years before retiring in 2005.
Authorities say Pesek was severely beaten and suffered numerous skull fractures and missing teeth.
Null told officers that he argued with his aunt for days after she had to buy some cigarettes for him because he couldn't afford it.

@leon ceniceros--- leon, here is another story of crime, a murder not committed by illegals contrary to your teachings. There are so many more stories of crime like this that were committed by americans. Just responding to your bigot comments that only illegals, mexican and hispanics as you have said are the only ones who committ crime, hope it opens up your eyesight a little and the understanding that a crime is a crime and it's irrelevant who committs the crime, a criminal is a criminal whether illegal or american, they come in all shapes, forms and sizes and are just not illegals.
