PHOENIX (AP) — A high school student in Phoenix is in custody for allegedly having two knives on campus and throwing one at a police officer.

Phoenix police say North Canyon High School officials were notified around 8:30 a.m. Thursday that someone noticed a girl walking into the building dressed in all black.

The Arizona Republic (http://bit.ly/Nm8Z7I) says a teacher at the school also is an off-duty police officer. He heard about the situation and called for police backup.

Arriving officers say they found the girl in a hallway waving two knives. They say she threw a knife at one officer before she was restrained and arrested.

The girl is a junior at the school, but her name wasn't released.

Thursday was the second day of classes at North Canyon High.
