A 3-year-old girl died Sunday after being found at the bottom of a Mesa backyard pool during a barbecue.
Mesa Police and Mesa Fire were called about 6:30 p.m. to 1035 W. Frito, where Faith Parent, 3, had been pulled from the pool.
According to a police news release, Faith had gotten out of the pool and her arm floats had been removed so that she could eat supper. Her mother left to get food, but when she returned three to five minutes later, could not find her daughter.
Others at the party started searching, and the mother's boyfriend searched the bottom of the cloudy pool, where he found Faith. CPR was performed on the girl. She was eventually transported to Cardon's Children's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, but it appears criminal charges are unlikely.
