Police have identified a man who died in an apparent shootout Thursday night. Three others were hurt in the incident which took place at the Laguna Village apartments in Chandler.
Police say William Hammond, 48, was shot and killed. It's not clear where Hammond lived or why he showed up at the apartment. According to Chandler police, Hammond went to an apartment at the Laguna Village around 8 p.m. There were three people inside.
The complex is located near Arizona Avenue and Elliot Road.
According to the Chandler Fire Department, one person died in the shooting, one person was suffering extremely serious injuries, and two others had non life-threatening injuries.
Chandler police spokesman Ashley Lewis said one person showed up at the apartment complex right before the shootout occurred.
She said the investigation is ongoing.
The relationships between the four people were still unknown as of 5:30 a.m. Friday.
