Next Mesa Citizen Police Academy class beginning soon

The next class of the Mesa Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy (CPA) is scheduled to begin Feb. 20 and run through May 1, and applications are now being accepted.

The CPA provides Mesa community members and an inside look at law enforcement, and is designed to give participants an understanding of the operations and resources of the Mesa Police Department. Participants will interact with police executives and veteran officers during the academy.

It is not a recruitment tool for the department.

Potential candidates for the Citizen Academy must meet the following cr iteria: be 19 years old, live or work in Mesa, have no prior felony arrests, have no misdemeanors within one year of applying.

Classes will be held 6:30 to 10 p.m. on Wednesdays. For information, call the Mesa Police Department Training Section at (480) 644-4139.
