Firefighters are investigating after a vacant home went up in flames Tuesday afternoon.
Mesa fire spokesman Forrest Smith said when firefighters arrived, they found the home near Horne and McKellips Road fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters were able to keep the first-alarm fire from spreading to surrounding homes.
Smith said nobody was home when the fire started. It is unknown if there were any animals in the house. Fire crews said the home was a total loss.
No firefighters were injured battling the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
