A Mesa woman accused of child abuse for allegedly leaving her daughter in a park for four hours while she had sex has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and four years of supervised probation.
Maricopa County court records show Commissioner Margaret Benny sentenced Laurie Lee Kelly on Tuesday.
In August, prosecutors had said Kelly left the 6-year-old girl in Evergreen Park with transients. She had bought beer for them and asked them to watch her daughter while she "went to make money."
When police arrived at the park, Kelly reportedly was found sitting in a grassy area with a man.
Prosecutors had said Kelly told police that she had sex with a couple of men while her daughter was being watched by strangers. She allegedly said she had "a manic sexual rage" that she couldn't control.

SO WHAT if the people that were watching the child were " TRANSIENTS " !
It would appear as though whoever wrote this article and the " SO CALLED " authorities combined assume that to be a " TRANSIENT " somehow makes you a " BAD " person or in some way un-reliable.
The child obviously survived and no harm was done to her. So, what is the problem ?
I am NOT saying that I agree with the chosen life style or career choice of the mother, but, at least she did not leave the child completely unattended.
In fact, I would go so far to state that I have met a lot of transient " PEOPLE " that were far nicer than some of my neighbors.
To stereotype this unfortunate group of citizens in such a negative fashion only serves to worsen their situation. Many of the so called transients are in their position not by choice but by misfortune.
Get the facts straight before you leep so far next time.

No KtownKid, I think they are indicating that Transients are transient and when you leave your kid with them, they may not be there with your kid when you return. This is troubling to well most people and evidently the law. That is why it is a story and why she got time. Just sayin'

anyone that leaves their kids with someone they don't even know that she has to buy beer for to do it, well that's totally stupid idiotic, and so irresponsible. Can tell that mother really has an undying love for her child. That' mother's lucky that none of those people did anything to harm her child since she was so trusting.
