Another person has died after Tuesday’s head-on traffic collision at Williams Field Road and Parkcrest Street in Gilbert.
Jeffrey Ulate, 37, of Chandler, was transported in critical condition to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborne Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to Gilbert police. Christopher Amezcua, 28, also died on impact in Tuesday’s collision.
The collision occurred at 12:35 p.m. just east of the San Tan Loop 202, according to Gilbert police. A silver Pontiac driven by Amezcua was heading east had crossed left of center on Williams Field Road, striking a pickup truck, driven by Ulate traveling in the opposite direction.
A passenger in Ulate’s vehicle was also injured and listed in critical condition, Gilbert police said. The identity of the passenger is unknown at this time.
The case is being investigated by the collision reconstruction team.

Anything back from the "collision reconstruction team"? I've got to wonder if this investigation didn't prompt the work last week by Gilbert to paint over the confusing mess of center lane lines that existed on that stretch of road during this tragic accident. There were leftover center lane markings which I could possibly see leading a distracted eastbound party to follow a stray course into the westbound lane. Or perhaps just a co-incidence
