A Mesa man accused in the hit-and-run crash that killed a Phoenix neurologist last year has pleaded guilty in the case.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 33-year-old Nicholas Linsk pleaded guilty Friday to leaving the scene of a fatal injury accident. He's scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 6.

Authorities say Dr. Marwan Maalouf, of Scottsdale, was riding a bicycle in Fountain Hills on Oct. 10 when he was struck from behind by a vehicle that drove away.

The 38-year-old Maalouf worked at Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center.

A witness to the accident called 911 to report the license plate of the vehicle and that led to Linsk's arrest.

Authorities say Linsk told them he was driving home from work and thought he hit a traffic barricade.
