A man was shot once in the chest about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Mesa police said. He did not receive a life-threatening injury.
The victim told police he was approached by a Hispanic male in the alley behind the 1100 block of East Nielson and was shot with a handgun.
At first, the victim denied knowing the suspect, described as a young, Hispanic male wearing a grey shirt and riding a black bicycle. But he then told Mesa police the suspect was a friend of his incarcerated brother. Though police searched the area, the suspect was not found.
