Tempe police are searching for a man who tried to sexually assault a 19-year-old ASU student about 3 a.m. Wednesday in her apartment.

According to police, the victim did not know the suspect. He entered her apartment in a complex in the 900 block of South Terrace and tried to force sex upon her, police said, but she fought him off and ran from the apartment.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his late 40s or early 50s, 5-feet 5-inches tall with a chubby build. He was wearing a red T-shirt with black writing and long shorts that covered his knees.

According to a news release, Tempe investigators and patrol officers are going door to door, questioning residents in the complex, and police are working with partner law enforcement agencies to identify, locate and arrest the suspect.

Police are reminding the community to secure and lock doors, windows, gates, garages and vehicles and to be aware of your surroundings.

Anyone with information can call Tempe Police at (480) 350-8311 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS. You can also submit a tip anonymously at http://www.silentwitness.org/. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect.

It is both ironic and sad that our resident racist, Leon, chose to whine even when the article DOES mention ethnicity.

Some bigots are just never happy unless they're complaining about something.
