A man was arrested early Sunday morning after striking a power pole in Tempe and attempting to flee police.

Tempe police Lt. Jeff Glover said the man crashed into the pole near 13th Street and Hardy Drive just after 1 a.m.

When officers arrived, the suspect reportedly tried to escape through several residential backyards before he was captured by police.

Glover said a Tempe officer suffered minor injuries during the foot pursuit.

The suspect was taken into custody on DUI and trespass charges.

According to Glover, the crash caused a small power outage in the area, mainly affecting a nearby duplex.

The suspect's name has not been released.

Why is it that most lawbreakers are of latino descent? Even though the suspects name wasn't released, the odds dictate as such.
