A Chandler man has been sentenced to more than two years in prison in a child abuse case.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 31-year-old Steven Saldana was sentenced Wednesday to a 27-month term.
They say Saldana pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct after being initially charged with three counts of child abuse.
Saldana and his girlfriend were arrested last August after a baby she was caring for was hospitalized with 14 broken bones, multiple bruises and abrasions plus a cigarette burn.
Chandler police say Saldana abused the 4-month-old girl several times while he was living with 25-year-old Angelica Jimenez.
Police say Jimenez was a friend of the baby’s mother, who had lost custody.
Jimenez was sentenced in March to 10 years’ probation after pleading guilty to child abuse and hindering prosecution.

that's a pretty pathetic sentence for his crime. Hope he gets beat up a few times while serving his time.

Not enough time in prison for all the torture that baby went through.[sad]

So, he spends roughly 2 months for each broken bone that child had to endure? Is that justice? I hope he gets 14 bones broken while "inside". THAT would be justice!
Remember, the child was only 4 mths old. Newborn bones are "rubbery", and extremely hard to break!

So what happens to the mom? Seems like she should be doing time, too.
