A 47-year-old man was killed Sunday evening in Mesa when he turned onto a road and was struck by a speeding vehicle.
Mesa police said Patrick Meley turned onto the 3200 block of University Drive about 7:30 p.m. when his Toyota Yaris was struck by a Nissan 350Z. Meley was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Nissan was driven by a 19-year-old man. He and his 19-year-old passenger were taken to a hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police do not suspect the driver was impaired. The primary cause of the collision is suspected to be excessive speed.
