Tempe firefighters say five kids were transported to the hospital in serious condition after a three-car collision Wednesday night.
Fire department spokesman Jim Schmit said the children, between 1 and 12 years old, were injured in the crash that happened around 7 p.m. on the westbound State Route 202 at Scottsdale Road.
Schmit said one adult was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and a second adult refused treatment.
Police are still investigating what caused the accident.
