Two Apache Junction mobile homes were destroyed after a pile of debris outside one under demolition caught on fire early Friday.
Fire crews from Apache Junction and Mesa responded to the fire in the 4400 block of North Delaware about 7:25 a.m., according to Dave Montgomery, deputy chief for the Apache Junction Fire Department.
Two occupants of the second mobile home that caught on fire got out of the homes east of Meridian and McKellips roads before fire crews arrived and no one was injured, Montgomery said.
Fire crews quickly went defensive on the fires as they had to bring in an extra water supply to fight the blaze as there are not any fire hydrants to service the area, Montgomery said.
An estimated $30,000 damage was done to the mobile homes.
