Having fun: San Francisco Giants fan Laura Chinn gets another autograph from one of the Giants rookies at Scottsdale's Indian School Park during the 2012 spring training season. Chinn, an avid Giants fan who closely follows the Giants' Minor League teams, knew most of the players by name. "It's very fun," Chinn said of getting their signatures. It's hard to get information on them as they don't have much about the team or the players - they don't have much in the newspaper about them or on TV. When I come to spring training, I get to match a face to a name. It's kinda cool." [Mike Sakal/ Tribune]

Spring, 79, was a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs in 1964 when he became a player involved in one of the most talked about trades in baseball history: He and Lou Brock were traded to the St. Louis Cardinals as part of a deal that brought pitcher Ernie Broglio to the Cubs. Being part of an answer to a trivia question over which players were traded with Lou Brock, Spring as-a-matter-of-factly said, "I was the main one traded. Lou Brock was just the other guy." The Gastens, who were in town to see the Rangers and visit with Kristin's grandmother Diane Phinney of Surprise, hope to get each of the baseballs autographed by a Rangers player. After throwing pitches consistently at 93 mph, Hamburger caught the attention of scouts and signed for a $1,200 bonus. He came to the Rangers from the Twins in August, 2008, and the rest is history. [Mike Sakal/ Tribune]
A blast from the past: Former Cincinnati Reds pitching great Jim Maloney (46) standing next to Reds Manager Dusty Baker at Goodyear Stadium. Maloney, 71, who is a special instructor for the Reds during spring training,. was considered the "Nolan Ryan" of his day during the 1960s. Maloney tossed three no-hitters - one of which went into extra innings before he lost. Maloney also pitched several one-hitters during a 13-year career. [Mike Sakal/ Tribune]
