A litter of puppies were killed in a fire at a Chandler home near Arizona Avenue and Ray Road Monday morning.

Seven people who live at the home managed to get out safely before the fire spread throughout the house.

Captain Jeff Brennan with the Chandler Fire Department told ABC15 the fire appears to have started in the garage.

The occupants woke when they heard a window break.

The inside of the home is a total loss.

Two adult dogs survived. The nine puppies that died were about a month old.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
