A Chandler man was arrested at his home and is accused of driving a 14-year-old boy from Massachusetts to Arizona and having sex with him, according to a police report.
According to the report, 47-year-old Brad David Cooper was arrested Tuesday at his home near Pecos and Alma School roads in Chandler.
The 14-year-old boy was located near the man's home and transported to the Chandler police station, according to the report.
In an interview with police, Cooper admitted to posing as a 16-year-old boy named "Trent" and talking with the 14-year-old over the phone, online and through video chat, the report states. The two apparently met using an online website.
Cooper admitted to police that he drove to Massachusetts and picked up the boy near his home on June 6, according to police documents.
The report states the 14-year-old planned to leave home and run away with Cooper. The victim also admitted to knowing that Cooper was an adult.
Cooper even spoke to the victim's mother over the phone about having the boy move in with him, according to police documents.
The report states that Cooper drove the boy from Massachusetts to Arizona making stops in New York, Indiana and Oklahoma or New Mexico. The victim told police that Cooper and him engaged in sexual relations during the trip back to Arizona, according to the report.
The abuse happened between April 1, 2014 and June 10, according to police.
Cooper also admitted to police that he once flew to Alabama to meet a 15-year-old male with the purpose of having sex with the boy, according to the police report. He also admitted to pleasuring himself in front of a 12-year-old family member in California.
Cooper was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on 22 counts of sexual abuse, including sexual conduct with a minor, molestation of a child, sexual exploitation of a minor, luring a minor for sexual exploitation, public sexual indecency with a minor present, and unlawful age misrepresentation.
