Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has announced the appointment of Assistant Attorney General Boyd Dunn to the Maricopa County Superior Court.

His appointment Friday fills the vacancy created by the recent retirement of Judge J. Kenneth Mangum.

Brewer says Dunn brings to the bench more than three decades of legal practice and 17 years of service in elected office.

Dunn was a Chandler City Councilman from 1994-2002, vice mayor from 2000-2002 and mayor from 2002 until this year.

He has served as Assistant Attorney General in the civil liability section since April.

Dunn's most recent legal concentration has focused on family, juvenile and probate law. He also has experience in municipal, personal injury, civil and misdemeanor criminal law.

Dunn also served as a Judge Pro Tem for a number of years.
