City of Chandler councilmember Rick Heumann will serve as the president of the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association for the 2013-14 term.

According to a press release, the AMWUA is a nonprofit organization whose members — consisting of cities and towns across the state — focus on the rational and effective use of water resources. Heumann, who was first elected to the council in 2009, previously served as the AMWUA’s vice president.

“Water management is a responsibility that we take very seriously in Chandler, along with every city in Arizona,” Heumann said. “I feel privileged to represent Chandler as we work with municipalities across the state on this important issue.”
