School children can take part in the newly created Club READ (Reading Experiences Appreciating Diversity) this summer thanks to a City of Chandler Human Relations Commission Diversity Mini Grant.

The program is for children who live in Chandler or attend school in Chandler and are in grades three through 10.

Participants will receive an age-appropriate book to read throughout the summer and add to their personal library. The books this summer will focus on African-American literature and/or authors. Content will be discussed in book clubs. All materials are free.

Registration is required. The group will meet throughout June and July, with the first required attendance 6 to 7 p.m. June 5 at Chandler Public Library Hamilton Branch, 3700 S. Arizona Ave.

Space is limited. Reserve a spot by calling (480) 305-4892 or sending an e-mail to erica_alexander0104@yahoo.com.
