Chandler Mayor Jay Tibshraeney and former Mayor Coy Payne will share their stories of growing up in Chandler and how they came to serve on the City Council on Tuesday as part of the ongoing speaker series for the city’s centennial.

Tibshraeney served from 1994 through 2002, and was elected again in 2011. Payne was mayor from 1990 through 1994. Both will share the different circumstances that led them to elected office, how they tried to shape the community and the major challenges they dealt with.

The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Downtown Library, 22 S. Delaware St.

For more information on the centennial speaker series, visit www.chandler100th.com or call (480) 782-2751.

Boy what memories, especially when your born and raised and still live here, have lived in other States, but love this State. Chandler was a little whoa down town, but lovely with Serrano's restaurant. Serranos clothing store, along side of the little pharmacy owned by the Saba's loved that little town, even that little barrio the arm pit in spanish it was called Sovacko? on spelling. But loved living there especially in the old days when the Marco's Hotel was the hottest to see and visit the golf course. It has changed a lot I know that but memories live on.
