Chandler Center for the Arts will show the documentary, “An Article of Hope,” at 6:30 p.m. April 5. The one-hour film tells the story of a tiny Torah scroll that survived World War II in a concentration camp, was taken to Israel after the war and accompanied Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon into space on the 2003 Columbia shuttle. The shuttle disintegrated on re-entry into the earth’s atmosphere, killing all seven astronauts aboard.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and students and are available online at www.evjcc.org, or can be purchased and held at will-call by calling the EVJCC at (480) 897-0588.
Proceeds will contribute to the building of a Tolerance & Holocaust Museum next to the existing Jewish Community Center.
