The Chandler Fire Department will offer rides on a fire truck in exchange for presents to donate to local children during its annual Holiday Toy Drive at Chandler Fashion Center on Dec. 14.

During the event, which runs from 2 to 8 p.m., people who donate a new, unwrapped toy at the mall will receive a ride in a Chandler fire engine. An adult is required to ride along with children who are age 6 and younger.

All of the toys collected will go to disadvantaged children enrolled in the Chandler Unified School District through the Chandler CARE Center.

The department will collect the toys at the mall’s valet parking area outside the food court on the south side of the mall. The event also includes appearances by fire department mascots and a performance by City of Chandler holiday carolers.

Donations can also be dropped off at the Fire Administration Headquarters, located at 151 E. Boston Street, or any Chandler fire station through Dec. 13.

Visiting chandleraz.gov/fire for more information about the event.
