Authorities say a bicyclist suffered critical injuries in a collision with a vehicle in Chandler on Saturday.

The accident happened around 2:45 p.m. near Chandler Boulevard and McQueen Road.

Chandler police Det. Seth Tyler said the 19-year-old male bicyclist tried to cross Chandler Boulevard from an alley without looking and was hit by a vehicle that was traveling the speed limit.

The bicyclist reportedly hit the SUV's windshield. He is in severely critical condition at a local hospital, according to Tyler.

Police have determined the driver was not impaired.

Video showed the bicycle crushed under a wheel of the SUV.

Chandler Boulevard was closed for several hours for the police investigation.
