Chandler is seeking public comment on Tuesday (March 6) to get feedback on plans to cut service on three Express bus routes. The proposed cuts are due to a decline in regional transportation tax revenues and affect all Valley cities, including Chandler routes that go to downtown Phoenix during peak commute hours. The reductions could take effect in July.

The Chandler routes affected are the 540 Express, which has eight daily trips that would be eliminated. Passengers would instead be served by Route 542 at Warner Road and Interstate 10 or by Route 521 at the Tempe Sports Complex.

The 541 Express would have one of its 10 daily trips eliminated. Fewer stops are being considered along the route, along with a detour to pick up passengers in west Mesa.

The 542 Express has 10 trips, some of which would have short detours to pick up additional passengers.

A complete list of changes can be found at www.ValleyMetro.org.

Chandler’s open house is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Chandler City Council Chambers, 88 E. Chicago St.
