The Basic Community Emergency Response Team course will be 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Feb. 27 at the fire training facility, 3550 S. Dobson Road.

Through classroom instruction and hands-on activities, the lessons will focus on learning how to secure utilities at home, how to put out a small fire, how to identify a potential building collapse and disaster preparation.

The course is free, but registration is due by Monday.
