Thanks to a privately funded educational project, visitors at Chandler’s Veterans Oasis Park can now take a walk while learning more about astronomy.

The Chandler Solar System Walk will be dedicated 8 a.m. July 7 at the start of the walk, near the northwest corner of the lake in the park at 4050 E. Chandler Heights Road.

The 2,500-foot walk is a series of stone monuments and interpretive signs representing the sun, eight planets and other significant objects in the solar system. Every foot traveled on the pathway represents 1.5 million miles in space. More information about the Solar System Walk is available online at www.chandlersolarsystemwalk.com. Information about the Environmental Education Center and Veterans Oasis Park is at www.chandleraz.gov/veterans-oasis.
