Formed in the late 1930s by band leader Glenn Miller, who went on to serve in the Army Air Corps during World War II, the Glenn Miller Orchestra is among the most famous and long lived big band groups. Though Miller vanished on a 1944 army transport flight to Paris, his orchestra lived on. The band will perform Yuletide favorites and hits from the 1930s and 1940s during its “In the Christmas Mood” concert. The Chandler show will be conductor Larry O’Brien’s last; he’s been with the orchestra for more than 20 years and 6,000 performances.
>> The Glenn Miller Orchestra will perform at 7 p.m. Dec. 20 at Chandler Center for the Arts, 250 N. Arizona Ave. $32-$44. (480) 782-2680 or chandlercenter.org.
