Chandler to feature revamped July 4 celebration

A revamped Independence Day celebration will be hosted by Chandler Lions Club, RC Cola, Budweiser, Cornerstone and the city of Chandler from 4 to 10 p.m. on July 4 at Tumbleweed Park.

Vehicles can enter the park, located at 2250 S. McQueen Road, from Germann Road at Hamilton St. or from McQueen Road at Celebration Way.

Admission and kids games are free and parking is $5 per car. The fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. Prior to the fireworks, the event will include live music, a kids carnival, bike parade and kids games.

The bike parade, Cactus Bike, Push, Pull Peddle Bike Parade, will start at 6 p.m. and the participant with the best decorated bike will win a Haro children’s bike. Those interested can register June 18 to July 3 at the Ahwatukee and Chandler Cactus bike locations, or in person the day of the event.

Guests can pack their own meals and beverages, but no grilling or alcohol is allowed. Personal fireworks are also restricted.
