The City of Chandler recently earned high marks stemming from the eco-friendly design of its city hall.

A press release sent by the city states the city hall received LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, certification to the gold level by the U.S. Green Building Council and was verified by the Green Building Certification Institute. The gold level is second to platinum in LEED certification levels.

“Our city hall is a symbol of Chandler’s growing prestige as an innovative community on the leading edge,” said mayor Jay Tibshraeny. “By using less energy and water, city hall is saving money for the families and businesses that make Chandler their home. LEED Gold is a validation of our social and economic values, and a sign that this public facility will benefit future generations to come.”

Opened in 2010, the city-hall complex has received a number of awards from the state, regional and national levels related to its architectural design, construction, lighting interior design, use of technology and effects on the environment.
