The City of Chandler is taking nominations for a new neighborhood recognition program beginning Oct. 1.
The Neighborhood Excellence Award will recognize neighborhoods and their leaders who improve their community and get others to do the same. Nominees are entered into one of four categories: best neighborhood event, given to neighborhoods who host one-time or ongoing events; most active or engaged, given to neighborhoods where the residents engage in activities to promote neighborliness; best revitalization story, which goes to the neighborhood that has rejuvenated itself; and the neighborhood leader of the year award, which recognizes individuals who spur neighborhood engagement.
A panel of judges headed by Mayor Jay Tibshraeny will evaluate the entrants, and the winners will be announced during the 2014 State of the City Address.
To enter, communities or HOAs have to be a registered neighborhood through the city’s neighborhood programs, and online applications open Oct. 1 and conclude Nov. 15. More information is available by visiting chandleraz.gov/connect or calling (480) 782-4354.
