The Chandler Tri-City Christian boys basketball team captured the Canyon Athletic Association State Championship on March 1, defeating Glendale Desert Heights Prep at US Airways Center. The 57-51 victory gave Tri-City its second consecutive title and third in the last four seasons. The Warriors finished their season with a record of 22-3.
Tri-City was led by 6-foot-6 sophomore guard Brock Gardner, who scored 28 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 6 assists. Gardner, who was named CAA Division I Tournament MVP, was also named CAA Division I Player of the Year.
Coach Paul Brown, who also serves as the school’s athletic director, said: “It was a great year. The guys were hitting on all cylinders late in the season which carried us to this title. I’m so proud of our seniors and excited they were able to experience winning a championship in the US Airways Center.”
Tri-City Christian Academy is a K-12 private Christian school that has been open since 1971. The school is located at 2211 West Germann Road.
