What are corporate wellness programs?

Wellness programs designed for Companies that help lower healthcare costs, decrease absenteeism due to injury and illness and increase productivity for companies. Health Benefits Group has expertise in customizing health solutions for businesses. We encourage wellness / prevention and establish a healthcare delivery system that offers more choices for businesses and their employees.

But I have heard that wellness programs don’t work…

People who say that wellness programs don’t work call them programs when they are not actually programs. Companies see wellness and initiative programs failing because no one is managing them. Management and communication over a wellness program is essential. There needs to be a communication platform for the employees and the HR person. Most of the time companies are utilizing basic information from health carriers and not engaging their employees. These “programs” are also not being held accountable for results.

So why would your company be any different?

We not only design, but also manage the wellness program. We have an online tooling system that tells us when employees log in, what activities they are tracking, point values, if they ate well or exercised and much more. So, we serve as the in-between person who manages all of the pieces, and hold our programs accountable for the results we want to achieve.

What incentives are offered to keep employees motivated?

That depends more on the employer, but there are numerous kinds of incentives. We can create challenges between management and staff or have companies compete in challenges against each other for a friendly rivalry in the marketplace! Companies could have exercise or weight loss challenges – it really just depends on what the employer wants. Most companies do participatory programs that include gift cards, certificates, gym membership discounts or even some paid time off. Employers just need to be aware that incentives have to be included in costs of the program. There needs to be an appropriate amount set aside to engage people.
