A 30-year-old man described by authorities as a serial bank robber was arrested on suspicion of armed robbery in connection to six bank heists throughout the Valley, the FBI and Chandler police announced Friday.

Jorge Gutierrez was arrested on Tuesday, soon after Chandler police apprehended him for fitting the description of a man who had robbed the Desert Schools Federal Credit Union inside the Wal Mart at 1175 S. Arizona Ave., in Chandler, according to information from the FBI.

Gutierrez admitted to police he had committed six bank robberies, five of which were at Desert Schools Federal Credit Unions and one at a Bank of America branch between Oct. 30 and Tuesday.

Three of the robberies were in Phoenix, two in Tempe and the last one in Chandler, according to the FBI.
