Chandler is home to Intel, the Ostrich Festival and powerhouse high school football teams. And now it can claim to have the 2011 Youth of the Year for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley.

Along with that title, Katelyn Moore, 17, a senior at Hamilton High School, has been awarded a $20,000 scholarship on behalf of the Victoria Lund Foundation, a long-time supporter of the Boys & Girls Clubs.

One of two kids raised by a single mom, Katelyn volunteers at the club’s Grant Woods Branch in Mesa, helps out an animal rescue group, and is involved with the Keystone Club. She plans to attend Chandler-Gilbert Community College and University of Arizona, where she would like to study education and psychology.
