A man was hospitalized at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix with life-threatening injuries after he and his 6-year-old brother were struck by a truck while riding a scooter near University Drive and Horne in Mesa on Friday.
Police responded to the incident about 7:15 p.m. to discover Elias Redden, 19, and his younger brother lying in the road after their Shanghai Meitian scooter was struck by a silver Chevy Silverado pickup truck. The brothers on the scooter were traveling west on University when they attempted to turn onto Horne and were struck, according to police.
The truck, driven by Robin Boatman, was traveling east on University.
The 6-year-old suffered a broken right femur, tibia and fibula and is expected to recover. Redden suffered a broken pelvis, extensive injuries to his lower extremities and significant head injuries. His condition was not available.
Boatman was not injured, police said.
The driver was not impaired and was not cited, police said.

I know that I'm late posting in here. It is almost 1 year since the news was published. I'm quite disappointed with this one. Truck driver should have a discipline with his self. And I pity the victim which is a 6-year old boy. I hope that he's alright now.
