A taxi driver was in serious condition Tuesday after running a red light at Germann and Greenfield roads Sunday night, being hit by another vehicle and then striking a stop light.
Police were called to the intersection about 10:30 p.m. The taxi, which was traveling westbound on Germann, was struck by an SUV that was moving northbound on Greenfield and had the green light. The taxi then struck a stop light pole and knocked part of it down. The taxi driver was taken by helicopter to Scottsdale Osborn Hospital. The driver of the SUV and a 7-year-old passenger were not injured. The driver of the taxi will be cited for failure to stop for a red light, according to Gilbert police.
